MBSLaw, PLLC is a boutique business, finance and real estate law firm in Nashville, Tennessee that focuses on all transactional and litigation needs of lenders, creditors and businesses. The Firm’s genesis stretches back to November 2009, when Ernest B. Williams founded Ernest B. Williams IV, PLLC, after a long career at larger firms. Michael B. Schwegler joined in February 2010 and became a partner in that firm in 2015. For eight years, Mike and Ernie represented lenders “from soup to nuts, ” preparing consumer finance-compliant loan forms, negotiating and documenting loans and loan terms, drafting loan documents, helping to service loans, working out solutions after a default, representation in Bankruptcy proceedings and litigation. Lisa M. Rosado joined the firm in 2016 after relocating from Orlando, Florida to Nashville, Tennessee. After founding a charitable foundation, in 2010, dedicated to providing clean water, sustainable agricultural practices and formal curricula to students (so that the water stays pure, the pumps and machines continue functioning, and the soil remains fertile) in developing countries, especially in Africa, in 2018 Ernie decided to focus the rest of his career advancing the aims of his foundation. With Ernie having relocated to Africa for much of the year, Mike founded MBSLaw, PLLC in 2018. Ernie has stayed on in an Of Counsel position.

Our day-to- day work is very varied within our fields of practice. For example, a typical week may look like this: on Monday, we may be asked to provide an opinion about the intricacies of standard union mortgage clauses in insurance policies covering manufactured homes; on Tuesday, we’re scheduled for an appearance at a 341 meeting of creditors in Bankruptcy Court; on Wednesday, we close a residential mortgage refinance transaction; on Thursday, we draft loan documents to evidence financing terms of a new commercial real estate development; and on Friday, we appear in Chancery Court to present oral ...
